FunkAi didn’t start with fashion. It started with a deep obsession for culture, art, and the visual languages that shape identity.
We’re two friends from India who met in college and later worked together at a Japanese multinational company. What connected us wasn’t fashion hype — it was design thinking, storytelling, and the discipline behind aesthetics.
That exposure changed how we saw clothing. Not as fast products, but as intentional objects.
The Influence
Working alongside experienced designers and being immersed in Japanese design philosophy taught us something simple:
every line, texture, and decision must have purpose.
A visit to Japan made that belief real. We saw art everywhere — on clothing, signage, packaging, streets. It wasn’t hidden in galleries. It was lived in.
That stayed with us.
The Gap We Noticed
When we came back to India, we kept asking:
Where is streetwear that celebrates culture deeply?
Where is the design-first thinking?
Why is so much of modern fashion surface-level?
FunkAi was our answer.

FunkAi is a design-first streetwear clothing brand in India rooted in cultural appreciation, original artwork, and disciplined construction.
We reinterpret global art traditions through modern streetwear — without stripping away their essence.
We focus on:

We’re beginning with Japanese-influenced design discipline, but our vision goes further.
We plan to explore Indian folk traditions, overlooked global art forms, and modern reinterpretations of cultural styles through clothing.
